The Graduate Institute of Education officially established on 1st August, 1996, in the wake of movements of decentralisation and diversification of teacher education in Taiwan. Appointed as the first Director of the Institute, Professor Kuang-Hsiung Huang was committed to promote highest-standard pursuit of and provision on profound knowledge and physical facilities. His contribution formed the solid base of the Institute and aimed to educate our students to be excellent professionals. 1999, doctoral programme and in-service master courses were both established, providing opportunities for further academic learning and practical training. In order to enhance the quality of teaching and curriculum planning, the Institute will merge with the Graduate Institute of Curriculum Studies in 2014. The combination of organisations is expected to promote competitiveness and uniqueness of the Institute in terms of teaching, researching and servicing.
